Mist Fen

The Mist Fen sits at the northern most reaches of Caldanna at the foothills of the Dragon's Back mountain range. Settled by explorers and pilgrims of a god unknown in the rest of the world. They are a quiet people and industrious. As such they are left to themselves as their exports are seen as more valuable than the effort of squashing a strange but otherwise harmless religion. As long as the Mist Fen does not rock the boat, they will not invite trouble with their local lords or the kingdom.

A strange but interesting fact is that the fen is surrounded by bog and swamp. The terrain is ever changing and navigating it without the help of the local elven tribesmen is a practical impossibility. The Mist Fen village is atop a large hammoch of land, effectively a stable island amongst the knee high ground water and raised above the nearly ever present mist of the fen and bog. Trying to find the Mist Fen village is also a near impossibility. The village is very independant and see outsiders as welcome guests so long as the visitors move on in short order. They are an insular people and don't take well to newcomers nosing about local business. A few visitors to the area have reported a very brisk and cold shoulder given by all the villagers after overstaying their welcome or nosing about the local atmosphere and elven tribe. Several adventurers have gone off on their own into the mists never to be seen again.

Local rumors abound about a mad elven druid for whom the deep bog of Greymere Bog is named. It is said that if one ever meets him in the wild it is best to turn the other way and leave quickly. Those who have tried to speak with him report maddening drivel and general confusion. He is as likely to attack as to help a lost soul in the wild.
